Fast Charging***

On the road, you can charge your ID.4’s battery 10 - 80% in up to 28 minutes.* That means a 10-minute charge can add almost 100 km of range on a DC fast-charger.

Two Battery Options

The 2024 ID.4 offers a 62kWh battery in a Rear-Wheel Drive configuration; however, if ‘go big or go home’ is your default mode, then the upgraded 82 kWh battery with All-Wheel Drive and an all-new Performance Drive Unit is available to outfit the ID.4 for even greater performance.

Panoramic Glass Roof

The ID.4’s expansive available panoramic glass roof lets light in while offering a sweeping view of the sky. If it ever feels too sunny, just activate the electric sunshade with the touch of a button.

Intuitive Start

  • Are there government incentives to owning an ID.4 ?

    Yes! The ID.4 currently qualifies for the federal iZEV rebate of $5,000. Depending on the province in which you live, you may be eligible to receive additional incentives. These include, but are not limited to, up to $4,000* from British Columbia’s Go Electric BC Program or as much as $7,000 from Quebec’s Roulez Vert program. The Roulez Vert program also offers an additional rebate of $600 with the purchase and installation of Electrify Canada’s HomeStation™

  • Can the ID.4 accommodate a tow hitch or roof rack?

    Absolutely! When you select the ID.4 Pro AWD, it comes standard with a tow hitch receiver capable of towing up to 2,700 lbs. Plus, every trim of the ID.4 comes with roof rails. Just add crossbars and a roof rack, and the ID.4 is ready for your next adventure!

  • When will a Volkswagen PHEV be available in Canada?

    Both the ID.4 and the upcoming ID.7 and ID. Buzz are Battery Electric Vehicles (BEV) based on our powerful MEB platform. Our current priority is to continue bringing BEVs to Canada, rather than PHEVs.

  • What is the difference between the ID.4 and ID.Buzz?

    The ID.4 is a fully-electric compact SUV. The ID. Buzz is an all-electric reimagining of the iconic VW bus, but uses the same MEB platform as the ID.4.

  • What is the difference between the ID.4 and ID.7?

    Both models are key cogs in our ID. Family. The ID.7 is the newest member of the VW all-electric family; being a fastback silhouette sedan, and will be available in Canada in 2024. The ID.4 is VW’s first all-electric vehicle in Canada (since 2021) and is a SUV. Both vehicles, like the ID. Buzz mentioned above, are built on VW’s MEB platform.

  • Does the ID.4 come with All-Wheel Drive?

    Yes! Both rear and All-Wheel Drive versions of ID.4 are available.

  • Where can I charge the ID.4?

    You can charge the ID.4 on the road using any Electrify Canada DC fast charging station. Or if you’re looking for a level 2 home charger, we recommend the Volkswagen 2-in-1 Charging Cable. It’s fast, smart and streamlined to give you the ease and convenience you deserve at home.

    You may be eligible for a rebate if you live in Quebec or British Columbia:

    - In Quebec, the Roulez Vert program offers an additional rebate of $600 with the purchase of the Volkswagen 2-in-1 Charging Cable.◊◊

    - If you live in BC in a single-family home, row home or duplex, you could receive a rebate of up to 50% of the purchase and installation costs of an eligible Level 2 EV charger, to a maximum of $350.◊◊

  • How long does it take to charge the ID.4?

    With a DC fast charger, you can charge 10% to 80% in an estimated 30 minutes. That means a 10-minute charge can add almost 100 km of range.*

    When paired with a Level 2 AC residential home charger, the ID.4 can be charged from near-empty to full in as little as 6 hours*. Charging with a 9.6 kW AC station will take approximately 9 hours, while a 7.2 kW AC station will take approximately 11.5 hours.*

  • Is the ID.4 ready for winter in Canada?

    The ID.4 is designed to function even in the harshest of Canadian winter conditions. Every ID.4 in Canada comes with heated front seats, a heated windshield and a heated steering wheel.

  • Where is the ID.4 being built?

    The ID.4 is being produced at our plant in Chattanooga, Tennessee, which produces electric vehicles exclusively in a fully carbon-neutral process.

  • Do you have any resources available for first responders?

    Volkswagen is committed to helping prepare fire services and first responders to safely handle emergencies involving our alternative fuel vehicles, including the ID.4.

  • What is the warranty of the ID.4?

    Like all our VWs, the ID.4 comes with a 4 year/80,000km* new vehicle limited warranty. In addition, the corrosion perforation limited warranty period is 7 years/unlimited kilometres, and you can have peace of mind knowing that the ID.4 comes with an 8 year/160,000km* high voltage system limited warranty along with 4 years of roadside assistance.

  • Does the ID.4 battery come with a warranty?

    Yes, the battery warranty is included as part of the 8 year/160,000km* high voltage system limited warranty. This not only includes the battery, but it also includes all of the following:

    - Protection to net 70% remaining battery capacity

    - High-voltage battery module

    - Battery Housing

    - BMS control unit

    - BMS connector housing

    - Switch box high-voltage battery

    - Connecting cable for battery module

    - Module monitor control unit

    - Cooling element

    - Connector Housing

    - Transport / recycling cost

  • Will VW be switching to the Tesla North American Charging Standard (NACS)?

    VW is currently studying viability of adopting the Tesla North American Charging Standards.

  • Does the VW ID.4 have bidirectional charging?

    The 2024 ID.4 does not have bidirectional charging.
